Project Overview
A private residence in the Cotswolds required the installation of a 32mm pumped outlet pipe from a new sewage treatment plant to a nearby stream. The route involved significant technical challenges, including a sharp gradient change and drilling through a 450mm thick traditional Cotswold stone wall. Due to the terrain and high aesthetic value of the property, trenching was not an option. HDD was selected for its precision and non-invasive nature.

Challenges & Solutions
- Steep Gradient Shift: A 4-meter vertical drop within a short distance near the treatment plant required a carefully controlled drill path to maintain pipe integrity and prevent stress on connections.
- Curved Bore Path: The route needed to curve horizontally around a garden feature to reach the wall penetration point.
- Stone Wall Drilling: The final section required precision boring through a 450mm thick Cotswold stone boundary wall without damaging the heritage structure.
Outcome
The installation was completed successfully with no visible impact on the landscaped property. The outlet pipe delivers treated effluent precisely into the stream at the required height, ensuring both function and environmental compliance. The client was highly satisfied with the minimal disruption and clean finish.
